This role is pivotal in advancing the PrecisionALS Programme, a €10 million multidisciplinary initiative aimed at revolutionizing drug development for neurodegenerative diseases through data-driven and precision medicine approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Technical Leadership:
Lead the design and implementation of the technology roadmap for the PrecisionALS Programme, focusing on data architecture, machine learning, and clinical data integration.
Review and enhance the existing technology platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of clinical research.
Oversee the migration of the platform to a cloud environment, likely Azure, while maintaining robust data governance and GDPR compliance.
Data Management & Integration:
Drive the development of the Patient Data Platform (PDP) to support data-intensive clinical research, including integration of medical device data and future-proofing the infrastructure.
Identify and incorporate new data sources, optimizing the platform for performance, security, and usability.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers and researchers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) and stakeholders to align technology solutions with clinical research goals.
Research & Development:
Partner with the ADAPT Centre and other research leaders to coordinate the ICT research programme, contributing to data analytics, machine learning, and AI innovations within the clinical domain.
Ensure the delivery of key project milestones, maintaining a focus on innovation, quality, and timeliness.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a PhD is desirable but not essential.
Technical Expertise:
Extensive experience in technical architecture, data management, and software development.
Proficiency with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), DevOps, and data security best practices.
Strong understanding of GDPR and data privacy in research contexts.
Leadership & Management:
Proven track record in leading technical teams and delivering complex projects on time.
Experience in clinical or data-intensive research environments is a plus.
Communication & Collaboration:
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaborative skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
Passion for making a difference in the work you do.
