My client is one of Ireland's most prestigious universities with a beautiful campus in the heart of Dublin’s city Centre, they are also Ireland’s highest ranked university.
They are currently looking to add to their team a Finance Partner for their Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
 

About the Position

The Finance Partner, based in the Office of the Faculty Dean, is responsible for delivering a high- quality professional financial service to the Dean, Schools, and Institutes within the Faculty. The Finance Partner supports the financial activities of the Faculty, its Schools, and Institutes, acting as a strategic partner to the Dean, Heads of School, School Managers and Heads of Faculty Institutes. The  Finance Partner provides expertise in strategic and operational financial planning and decision making, and ensures effective liaison between the faculty, its stakeholders, and the Financial Services Division (FSD), and is responsible for ensuring compliance with college financial policies, taxation, procurement policies and legislative obligations.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual budget and multi-annual financial plan for all units within the faculty.
  • Provide the Faculty Dean with accurate, relevant, and timely financial information required for strategic and operational decision making, financial planning, resource allocation and financial risk management.
  • Prepare and present financial forecasts and analysis of complex financial data, including trend and variance analysis to the Faculty Dean, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and other key FSD stakeholders including the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Develop positive working relationships with Heads of School, School Managers and Heads of Faculty Institutes, working strategically with these key stakeholders, providing financial management support, as required.
  • Effectively communicate financial matters to the relevant stakeholders across the faculty.
  • Provide financial support in the preparation, review and monitoring of budgets, investigating and explaining variances against budgets as they arise across the faculty, assisting in developing business solutions to address deficits and negative financial variances where relevant; identifying risks and potential over- and under-spends.
  • Review budgets and financial reports to ensure appropriate financial control, implementing processes and procedures to minimise financial risk.
  • Provide information required to support all aspects of financial forecasting/modelling for the faculty and its stakeholders.
  • Review and analyse financial data for strategic and operational use by the faculty and its stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between Faculty and FSD on a strategic and operational basis.
  • Use and understand common systems (e.g. Oracle, PBCS, SITS, Power BI, CoreHR, MS Excel) relevant to area of work for analysis and reporting.
  • Use advanced Microsoft Excel functionality to build and run reports; to prepare and process journals; to undertake detailed financial data analyses; to identify and review trends in information in terms of quarterly results to budget/forecast.

Experience/Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification accountancy experience (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc.) with substantial proven experience at management level in an organisation of similar scale.
  • Excellent skills in financial and quantitative analysis including proven experience in report writing, provision of reports and collation of data.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial modelling, planning, and forecasting.
  • Previous experience in budget management, review, and control in large organisations.
  • Substantial experience of financial planning, risk management and related reporting, project planning and associated financial oversight.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills, including the ability to relate financial concepts to non-financial personnel, and the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, as demonstrated from prior experience.
  • Ability to identify and deliver financial best practice in a university and public service context.
  • Ability to contribute effectively as a member of the Faculty and Finance Partner teams

Remuneration Package

  • Salary- €70,000-€87,000
  • Pension
  • Hybrid working (3 days a week work from home)
  • 30 days holidays
