Firewall Design: Act as the primary Firewall Architect, defining architectures and rulesets for their Palo Alto firewall estate, including the creation of High-Level Design, Low-Level Design, and Change Requests. Oversee and implement firewall solutions directly or in collaboration with other engineers.

Project Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including project managers, network engineers, system administrators, and developers, to meet firewall requirements throughout project lifecycles.

Incident Response Planning: Contribute to technical incident response plans, identifying potential threats, assessing risks, and defining protocols for handling cybersecurity incidents.

Cybersecurity Incident Management: Serve on the incident response panel, addressing major cybersecurity incidents, containing threats, mitigating damages, and restoring operations. This may involve being on-call and working outside standard hours during significant incidents.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging threats, technologies, and best practices, continuously improving firewall capabilities through research, conferences, and collaboration.

Support Security Services: Assist the broader Security Services function as a firewall subject matter expert, mentoring junior staff and providing cover for other roles when necessary.

Operational Oversight: Oversee firewall operational activities conducted by internal teams and third-party providers, ensuring best practices and compliance with change approval processes.

Security Remediation Activities: Conduct bi-annual firewall rule assessments and develop technical responses to penetration tests, security assessments, and vulnerability scan findings related to firewalls.
