Chartered Accountants Ireland - Careers Evening

Brightwater is delighted to continue its partnership with Chartered Accountants Ireland and was proud to get a chance to speak at their Careers Evening on the 29th of September. Members of our accountancy team Lyn White, Ciaran Bergin, Robert Patterson, Grace Caraher, Annita McGettigan and Commercial Director, Mark Byrne were all in attendance at this interesting and informative evening.
The fantastic evening began with Karin Lanigan discussing the support provided for by Chartered Accountants Ireland for ACA members. Some of this invaluable support includes one to one meetings, expert knowledge, career coaches, career mapping, and strategy planning. Karin also spoke about the importance of mentoring and how members can offer their own advice based on their success.
Mark Byrne, Commercial Director at Brightwater talked about the current employment market for accountants, industry trends, a comprehensive look at salaries, desired skillsets and career progression. Mark also shared his own personal experience of recruiting in this sector and what employers are really looking for from potential candidates. It’s clear there are a lot of opportunities available for accountants in all areas including industry, financial services and practice both permanent and temporary. Mark and Karin then facilitated a question and answer session at the end of the presentation in order to guide members in their career options.
At the end of the evening there was time for a quick glass of wine and a chance to chat with Brightwater’s Recruitment Consultants. The Brightwater team helped the members with their career options and if they were considering a job change and give an insight into current opportunities. All in all it was a great evening for everyone involved and a great opportunity to network with people in the accountancy profession across all sectors.
