To mark International Women’s Day March 8th Brightwater is celebrating inspirational women. We are championing women who are leaders in their field and make a difference in their community. In this profile we are highlighting our very own Aoife Clarke, Associate Director Brightwater Group as an inspirational woman.
Q – How did you get into a current role?
A – Attracted to the fast paced recruitment industry, I joined BW in 2000 as an administrator and worked my way up to Associate Director.
Q – Do you have any qualifications?
A – I have a Secretarial Certificate and the rest I learned on the job.
Q – What is your favourite part of your current role?
A – Mentoring and supporting the team to ensure their professional needs are met.
Q – Proudest moment within your career to date?
A – We expanded and opened offices in Cork and Belfast, I was solely responsible for implementing policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of our internal operations across all 3 offices.
Q – What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
A – The importance of respect - always respect your colleagues and the job they do.
Q – If there was one thing you could tell your younger self, what would it be?
A – Grab every opportunity with open arms and a positive attitude is key to being successful.
Q – From your experience to date, what have you learned about being in a leadership role?
A – The importance of communication skills and never be too proud to ask for help! Always be open to criticism.
Q – What have you learned about being mentoring others?
A – Listening to colleagues and their professional needs is essential so you can adapt your management style accordingly.
