If you are interested in a legal profession but don’t necessarily want to work from the courtroom, then why not consider a career as a Legal Secretary?
Legal secretaries are a very important part of the legal profession. Working as a Legal Secretary can be a truly rewarding career and the task at hand can be hugely interesting. The career prospects are very promising and you can be promoted within the role or advance your way through the legal profession by progressing to a legal executive or a paralegal with the right training. Working as a Legal Secretary gives you the opportunity to develop an excellent understanding of law and legal procedures resulting in you gaining valuable experience.

Variety
Depending on the legal department you are supporting, your workload is likely to be varied each day. If this is the case, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to the wide range of legal procedures and legal areas. All of this experience will be very useful should you hope to progress and work your way up the ladder.
Income
Typically legal secretaries are paid very well. It is likely that remuneration is higher than that of a standard secretary. Depending on your experience your salary could be on the higher end of the pay scale.

Progression
In terms of career development, many legal secretaries advance their careers by training for a paralegal or legal executive role. You could also study for a law degree down the line having had exposure to working close to solicitors and getting a taste for the legal world.
