Brightwater recruitment consultants Annita McGettigan, Lyn White, Ciaran Bergin, Robert Patterson and Associate Director Jean O’Donovan were delighted to attend the ACCA New Members Celebration 2016 at the Aviva Stadium last week.
The ceremony opened with ACCA Ireland Chairperson, Etain Doyle congratulating members on their awards. Etain spoke about the rapidly growing body, its branches in over 180 countries and its network of over 20,000 students in Ireland. Guest speaker, Dermot Igoe, who has worked with Microsoft for over 21 years in finance and operations, spoke about the importance of the ACCA qualification – highlighting its globally respected reputation and member access to skill sets. He also underlined the importance of maintaining a work life balance and how it can benefit all aspects of life. Next Brian McEnery Global President of the ACCA, took to the stage to detail the importance of the ACCA’s nearly 200,000 global members and the part networking plays in building a solid career. He also talked about how ACCA qualifications can act as a global passport allowing accountants to travel.
The ceremony finished with music, canapes and a quick glass of wine. The Brightwater team were on hand to discuss the very buoyant employment market for accountants and current opportunities available. On the recruitment front, it’s good news! Towards the end of the year many companies use up their budgets for recruitment which leads to more jobs and vacancies. Interestingly, the market is very candidate led at the moment and is therefore very competitive – having an ACCA qualification certainly can help prospective employees stand out to employers.
We are seeing jobs growth in many areas for accountants, namely multi nationals (particularly pharma and tech), FMCG, hi-tech, food & drink, legal & professional services, most of whom offer generous packages including bonus, pension, healthcare and study leave.
